

Having started piano at the age of 6, 16-year old Jonathan Zheng currently studies with Dr. Peter Mack. He has won numerous achievements including first prize at the Claudette Sorel Piano Competition in New York, first prize at 2022 Steinway/Avanti Future Stars Piano Competition in Arizona, Seattle Symphony Young Artist Concerto competition, Chopin Foundation of the United States, the Vancouver International Piano Competition, Premier Prix at the International Leopold Bellan in France, first prize at the Steinway & Sons' Junior Competition Regional, and many others.
Jonathan debuted with the Northwest Philharmonia in the Seattle Town Hall, and has performed live twice on Classical King FM 98.1. He has performed multiple times in Benaroya’s Recital Hall and is also scheduled to perform in the Katzin Concert Hall in Arizona. He has played for world-renown pianists such as Dang Thai Son, Edward Auer, Emanuel Ax, Alan Chow, Stanislav Ioudenitch, and others in masterclasses and lessons. He has also enjoyed broadening his musical experiences through the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the Indiana University Piano Academy, and the Oberlin
Piano Festival.
He enjoys playing chamber music and accompanied solos with his friends, having collaborated with and accompanied many woodwinds and strings in recitals as well as in the Washington State High School Solo and Ensemble competition. He also plays the alto saxophone in his school band at Interlake High School.
Jonathan is passionate about music because it is both an outlet for hisimagination and emotion. He enjoys composition and has composed many works both for his International Baccalaureate Music class and for fun.
